Jakarta, Induk KUD – After a one-day journey by land from Palembang, some of the Mini CPO Plant machinery shipped from Taiwan has arrived at the construction site in Muaro, Jambi on Friday, July 27, 2018.

The first stage of machinery delivery for the Mini CPO Plant is part of the preparation for installation, as the construction of the Mini CPO Plant is nearing completion. In the coming days, more machinery for the Mini CPO Plant with a capacity of 5 tons per hour will arrive to complete the installation.

As known, Induk KUD has entered into a collaboration with Controlnet, a private company from Taiwan specializing in industrial technology, and Pusat KUD Jambi to build a Mini CPO Plant with a capacity of 5 tons per hour in Muaro-Jambi, where the groundbreaking for the construction was done on April 26, 2017.

According to the CEO of Induk KUD, Portasius Nggedi, the construction of the Mini CPO Plant is an expansion of the successful trial of a previous Mini CPO Plant with a capacity of 2 tons per hour. Portasius Nggedi explained that there is a considerable area of smallholder palm oil plantations, and their production is often not accommodated by large corporate plantations that already have their own estates to ensure the availability of raw materials. Therefore, Induk KUD, Pusat KUD Jambi, and Controlnet as business partners are present to assist smallholder palm oil farmers, who are mostly members of KUD.

“With the establishment of this Mini CPO Plant, it will add value and reduce various risks due to dependency on sales and prices from large-scale mills,” said Portasius Nggedi. “The produce from the farmers’ plantations can be purchased at a fair price, thereby increasing the income of the smallholder palm oil farmers around the plant,” he added.

Furthermore, Portasius Nggedi stated that processing with the Mini CPO Plant is much more beneficial than selling Fresh Fruit Bunches (TBS) directly to traders. He explained that the operation of the Mini CPO Plant is not only about business factors but also can stimulate economic activities among the members, assist smallholder farmers in the development of the palm oil industry, create job opportunities, and improve living standards through advanced and environmentally friendly technology for high-quality vegetable oil.

In addition to the collaboration for the construction of the Mini CPO Plant, a Biomass Power Plant will also be built from the palm oil waste near the Mini CPO Plant to supply its electricity needs and ensure that farmers in the surrounding area also get power supply from the Biomass Power Plant.

“The collaboration model between Induk KUD, members (Pusat KUD), and business partners, as implemented in Jambi, will continue to be developed in other regions of Jambi and throughout various potential areas in Indonesia. Gradually, it will be built in smallholder palm oil plantation centers across the regions under Pusat KUD,” concluded Portasius Nggedi. (TAB)
